Some summer dresses for me and my girls

I have sewn way more in the meantime, but still lagging behind taking pictures and blogging - the usual ;)

But some of my most recent projects were these Seesaw dresses for my daughters from Ottobre 3/2013

I did topstitch the collar of the smaller dress later on, so the white of the reverse material is not so visible any more.

For myself I made a dress that has been on my list for more than a year now. It's from Burda 2/2013 dress 110 (Batikkleid). Since my previous attempts to sew something from Burda for myself were not super successful, I decided to go cheap on this attempt: The material was only 2,- per meter! I don't expect this dress to last forever, but at least I can wear it this summer.

So this is what it looked like at first: The clevage was quite a mess, as you can see.

So I moved the right shoulder seam about 4 cm inwards (shortening the backpart and the front part 4 cm each), then it looked much better.

The pattern of my cheap material is not exactly flattering for my bust, I think, but I won't whine too much about a dress for 5,-...

Schnabelina's Kinderröckli for Creadienstag #96 and Meitlisache

Another German blog project is Creadienstag. Here your creativity is not limited to sewing and you can post anything you made yourself not only things FOR yourself.

For some time already my older daughter wanted to get a new skirt. Since she liked the summer dresses à la Schnabelina so much, we went for the Schnabelina Kinderröckli. Unfortunately, with the first version  I made a mistake and took the pattern for knits instead of woven material. That skirt will probably go to my daughter's best friend, who is very petite and should fit into it. So I had to do it all over again and this time not only with the right pattern, but also with one panel a bit more embellished. My daughter loves it!

Since it's a really girly outfit, off we go to Meitlisache

Summer Dresses

Both girls are really keen on dresses. Since my older daughter didn't have many that fitted from last year, I had to make some. Even though I don't really like hoods on dresses Schabelina's 'hooded dress' pattern Kapuzenkleidchen is perfect, because there are so many variations and you can even mix knits with woven material.

So the first dress was made from yellow Trigema piquet and woven material from my mother-in-law.

Then one with lilac piquet and two different tweet cottons. Since I even had the matching ribbon for this material it looks quite fancy, I think.

My younger daughter got almost the same.

For her second birthday she got a lovely strawberry dress with Pinocchio on top.

Birthday dress and X-mas skirt for my big girl

Yeah, I know, my attempts to catch up are really slow... Still in December...

A quite spontaneous and quick skirt for Christmas (made from the top of a skirt of mine, the bottom was attached to my Christmas outfit)

The colour is a bit hard to catch, it's actually aubergine, not brown.

Just after Christmas for my daughter's 4th birthday a dress in fuchsia corduroy.

Since my daughter is sucking in stories, enacting and retelling them to herself (or whoever is listening) and she loves fairies, I decided to make it a 'Lesefee' (Reading Fairy) Dress. Actually I think she came up with this herself!

The script is made with the embroidery machine, the fairy I embroidered free-hand with the sewing machine.

Last of the summer...

Outside it's really autumn now, windy and rainy... So I'm now working on some autumn clothes for my two girls. But before, I would still like to show you some of my summer's work:

Cute pirate dress. I used the Hopscotch pattern from Ottobre 3/2012 adapted the sleeves a bit and added the skirt made of jersey scraps.

A birthday shirt for our nephew. Robots from Ottobre 3/2012.

 Leggings for my youngest. Don't remember the pattern, I think I just copied some leggings that were lying around. My older daughter got similar leggings, same material...

baby set for a cute cuban boy

A friend of ours recently gave birth to a cute little boy. Since she is Cuban, there had to be some Spanish text on it, so we chose some lines from 'la bamba'.

The placing of the text is a bit chaotic - all intentional of course ;)

The jersey is called 'Take a ride' - the colours are quite strong, but I like it combined like this.

The patterns are from Ottobre, the shirt Nr 7 from 4/2006, the pants are Anis 1/2010 - love this pattern!

Birthday outfit for my youngest

Birthday preparations and holiday preparations are quite tough together... Since we mostly stayed with friends or members of www.bewelcome.org , holiday preparations included quite a lot of sewing, too: we try to bring some small gifts to our hosts - will show a picture one day.

Anyway, once we were back, I still had two days to go till my sweet little daughter would turn one! I had to sew a dress for Florina (see post below), embroider and sew the number for the birthday crown and make a dress for my cute birthday girl (ah yeah, and a cake, too!)
